Scissortail Shade Company may be a new name, but its team brings forward decades of practical knowledge, established processes and service to Oklahoma City customers.

40+ Years of combined awning, canopy and shade experience
  1. 2005

    Experience with Dan’s Custom Awnings

    Members of our existing staff owned or worked for Dan’s Custom Awnings, building the experience that remains within our team today.

  2. 2009

    The beginning of DC Awnings

    After the business was sold, the existing employees were retained and Dan’s Custom Awnings became DC Awnings. The objective remained clear: integrity, quality work, strong service and satisfied customers.

  3. 2012

    A period of significant growth

    DC Awnings grew to four times its previous size in three and a half years. At the time of its sale in October 2012, it had become one of Oklahoma’s largest and most successful awning companies.

  4. 2017

    The Awning Company LLC was formed

    After later ownership changes and the closure of the previous company, The Awning Company LLC was created with the goal of restoring integrity and dependable service to the Oklahoma City awning industry.

  5. 2023–2025

    A change in leadership

    Mark Albertson purchased The Awning Company on January 1, 2023 and successfully led the business until his passing in December 2025.

  6. Today

    Scissortail Shade Company continues the work

    Following the transition in December 2025, Scissortail Shade Company was formed and retained the experienced staff of The Awning Company. We continue serving new and existing customers and honoring applicable service and warranty commitments.
